The Boeing Company is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Aircraft Maintenance Operations Manager to manage the support and maintenance teams on the C-17 Aircraft at RAF Brize Norton UK. Global Technical Operations (GTO) is providing support to the C-17 Program Base Manager at RAF Brize Norton in support of the maintenance, planning and activity for Scheduled and Unscheduled maintenance. It also provides support for Ground Support Equipment and Alternate Mission Equipment. The Role: Primarily focused on the maintenance and support activity to a key Defense platform, the role will provide the opportunity to be part of a highly motivated and evolving team of likeminded professionals within the Field Operations Team, delivering scheduled and unscheduled maintenance to support high levels of aircraft availability. Responsibilities: Leads a dynamic team of modification technicians, in the performance of C-17 Maintenance and modifications at RAF Brize Norton. Works closely with the other maintenance and support managers on site and other defined local stakeholders to deliver execution of maintenance tasks to support aircraft availability. Develops and motivates a team of diverse skills, capability, and experience to maximize individual and team performance. Performs project management activities in development of project plans, deliverables, line management, and risk assessments.

  • The Maintenance Operations Manager operates in a fast-paced environment augmenting and/or leading modification and/or maintenance within a highly complex and multi organizational customer environment to deliver against contractual requirements and mission execution.
  • As a successful candidate you will be embedded within an environment working alongside peers, teams and customers in dynamic and operationally focused atmosphere.
  • Working within a multifaceted stakeholder landscape and with often immature, developing and changing requirements, you will be expected to lead work packages and/or projects to deliver to customer.
  • Your advocacy and knowledge will be vital in helping the customer achieve their business objectives.
  • You will act as ambassador for The Boeing Company at appropriate client organization levels and will be responsible for generating full or elements of, execution solutions in line with the contractual requirements.
  • You will be an energetic self-starter with the correct aptitude and attitude that can build enduring customer intimacy and high performing teams within an exciting and demanding arena
  • Manage the day-to-day maintenance operations on site ensuring that the Customer and organizational procedures and standards are complied with at all times.
  • Manpower planning, staffing, training, time management, performance management, personal development.
  • Ensure timely execution of all maintenance and modification activities ensuring the Customer aircraft is returned to service in a timely manner and to the required standard.
  • Develop Interface with Program Management and other functions to ensure seamless delivery of maintenance services.
  • Management of cost target and identify cost reduction initiatives within the maintenance services environment.
  • Meet training requirements for mandatory and non-mandatory training.
  • Perform frequent operations reviews with Program Management and other stakeholders.
  • Advise Boeing of all reportable events during Maintenance Operations.
  • Promote innovation and champion continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform mandatory reporting as required
  • Promote Safety Culture, First Time Quality, FOD Reporting and SMS.
  • Ensure all reported incidents are recorded in the relevant Boeing system and that corrective action measures are put in place to avoid reoccurrence.
  • Work with the Quality Team to address occurrences and audit findings in a timely manner.
  • Provide reporting of performance indicators
  • Develop and motivate a team of diverse skills, capability, and experience to maximize individual and team performance.
  • Perform project management activities in development of project plans, deliverables, line management, and risk assessments.
  • Provide oversight and approval of performance approaches, acquires resources, and maintains quality, safety, schedule, and cost plans.

    Experience in a leadership position within aircraft maintenance and operations.
  • Ability to obtain UK Security Clearance
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • This post will require demonstrable, successful experience of aircraft maintenance operations, in a Defence or commercial context and sound technical, managerial, and interpersonal skills. Meet the minimum requirements to hold or ideally will have held a Form 4 position in a previous role.
  • Experience in a leadership position within an Approved Aircraft Maintenance Organisation.
  • Experience of business change management and building strategic plans in support of business objectives.
  • Experience in providing technical and performance oversight of aircraft maintenance or modifications.
  • Experience in managing performance-based aircraft maintenance contracts is highly desirable.
  • Proven knowledge and proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint and the ability to learn in house systems.
  • Ability to travel to domestic or international sites, sometimes at short notice.
  • Prior C-17 experience is NOT required.
