Full Job Description

The post acts as the main point of contact for all invoice debt and business enquiries, liaising with a variety of staff groups both within and outside the organisation. The aim of the Business Unit is to reduce the financial risks to UHBFT, by ensuring Clinical Laboratory Service charges are raised in a timely and accurate manner.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, enthusiastic individual to join the Pathology Business Unit team.

This is an interesting and varied role. The post holder will have Diploma level experience or formal training in a related area of expertise to NVQ 3 or equivalent. They must be able to prioritise a demanding workload and meet tight deadlines.

The successful candidate will have a professional approach and a confidential and proactive outlook. They will be responsible for providing comprehensive and highly professional business support, assisting the Business Specialist and laboratory management team in all aspects of invoicing and credit control, including the production of monthly management information, debt ledger management and co-ordination of recharge to ensure financial deadlines are met. The post holder will be required to liaise directly with Business Unit Managers, clinical, scientific and financial staff and Trust Departments, working independently for long periods of time. Acting as the main point of contact for all invoice, debt and general business enquiries, the post holder will liaise with a variety of staff groups, both internal and external to the Trust., Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Data management and utilisation of IT packages

Experience working in a financial or laboratory environment.

Numeracy and literacy

Understanding of Financial procedures and Standing Financial Instructions

Ability to prioritise, plan, organise and manage time effectively with minimal management supervision

Able to confidently communicate with a range of clinical, scientific and financial staff.

Key tasks include debt ledger management, coordination of invoice and credit documentation, advising the business specialist of required actions. Raise detailed and timely invoice requests. Daily use of Laboratory (Telepath), Microsoft and internal systems. Identify areas for development in working practices, policies, systems and procedures.
