Band 7 Senior Data Wrangler

The post holder will play a key role in the Health Research Data Science team on important programmes of work which focus on creation of research assets from clinical and operational data.

They will be responsible for data curation and management of large health datasets for Research Development & Innovation (RD&I) data projects. They will also support the generation of new understandings from data relevant to our patients and the population, and novel approaches to the delivery of research trials, ensuing value and benefits realisation through the successful delivery of projects.

They will provide directors, senior managers and clinicians with reports addressing a wide range of operational, clinical, strategic and policy questions. The post-holder will work closely with the Principal Data Developers, Project Managers, and the Principal Technical Lead, as well as external research communities (e.g. University of Birmingham, other HEIs, NIHR, HDR UK, MRC), other NHS structures, charitable, and commercial third parties., The post holder will be expected to have experience of managing large multi-dimensional datasets including patient activity, prescribing data, and labs data. They will be responsible for creating and managing tables used to populate research dashboards and internal and external reporting. They will be responsible for identifying data sources, understanding key data elements, analysis and maintaining necessary documentation. The post holder is expected to be highly experienced in SQL and SSMS, be technically competent with evidence of continuous learning and development, and ability to adapt to new reporting tools.

The post holder will work independently and with members of the team as a specialist in data wrangling and clinical data linkage on internal databases. The role will also include supporting with development of the Trusts Research Data Warehouse.
