A Fantastic opportunity has just become available at Band 7 level for an experienced nurse to join a busy and successful Haematology Research delivery team at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. The Haematology research portfolio is one of the largest in the region and has an exciting range of commercial and academic clinical trials. The trials include observational, complex interventional and translational studies., The post holder will have 24-hour responsibility for the effective and efficient operational day to day management of the department / ward, including budget control, clinical governance staff development and training.
The post holder is professionally accountable for the maintenance of standards of professional practise and standards of care. He / she will provide professional clinical leadership within a defined area and provide direction and inspirational leadership to all members within the multi-disciplinary team.
The post holder will undertake and supervise clinical practice, audit, research and teaching to set, monitor and continuously improve standards of care and patient experience.
The post holder is accountable for safe, effective clinical practice managing and developing team performance, managing a devolved budget ensuring efficient and effective use of physical and human resources
The successful candidates will need to be a dynamic and motivated adult nurse with a demonstrable knowledge of Haematology conditions or extensive research experience.
This post is about leadership, mentoring & support of the existing team, hence the requirement for a good knowledge base. You will be expected to provide evidence in delivering high quality patient centred care, and the ability to inspire and motivate your team through leadership and team building initiatives. You will need to be able to work under pressure and manage conflicting priorities.
The Trust delivers innovative research at a fast pace. Previous experience within NHS research, and a detailed understanding of ICH GCP and the EU directive for clinical trials are an essential requirement for these posts.
To be shortlisted for this role you will need to be a level 1 Registered Nurse, with considerable experience at Band 6 in a haematology care setting or in research. Applicants need to demonstrate a willingness to train for extended roles which includes administration of cytotoxic medications.
