Do you understand the needs of carers, or have experience of being a carer yourself? We are seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to take the lead in shaping our Carers offer in Reading, making a meaningful impact on the lives of Carers in our community.

We are an ambitious and innovative Council, aiming to deliver best practice and improve outcomes for our residents. Our Adult Social Care Team is led by a committed and experienced Leadership Team and we work together to achieve our mission of "supporting the life that matters to you."

We seek the best talent from the widest pool of people as diversity and inclusion is the key to our success. Reading Borough Council is a Disability Confident Employer and is committed to the recruitment and continued employment of people with disabilities.

About the role:

We have recently co-produced our Joint All Age Carers' Strategy and Action Plan 2024-2027 - Joint All Carer's Strategy 2024 - 2027

Now, we are seeking someone with the energy, vision, and determination to bring it to life. Building strong partnerships with unpaid carers and other organizations will be central to this role.

We are looking for someone who has:

Proven experience in building partnerships across diverse sectors.
Demonstrated expertise in co-producing initiatives alongside individuals with lived experience.
Track record of leading, implementing, and evaluating strategic-level projects.
In-depth understanding of the challenges faced by carers of all ages, including awareness of how health inequalities may impact their experiences.
A clear understanding of carers' rights as outlined in the Care Act 2014 and the Children and Families Act 2014.

The role offers hybrid working but you will be required to come to the Civic Offices in Reading for meetings or to go out in the Community to visit Care Services or Providers.

You'll be part of a team that relies on each individual to play their part to the best of their ability. As well as the colleagues that you work closely with every day, you'll also be part of Team Reading, playing your personal part in making Reading a successful and vibrant place.
