Full Job Description

We are looking for a dynamic individual to lead on the West Midlands Cancer Alliance 8-point Health Inequalities plan. An individual that has a proven track record of delivering Health Inequalities programmes across complex systems. The post holder will work as part of a dynamic team to provide an effective project support to help the West Midlands Cancer Alliance, hosted by The Royal Wolverhampton Trust deliver their plans.

The successful post holder will oversee and coordinate the objectives focusing on the delivery for both adults and children and young people.

The post holder will:

lead on the West Midlands Cancer Alliance 8-point Health Inequalities plan and support the delivery of this programmes across six ICBs.

work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service supporting managers, staff and patients across the West Midlands region.

In partnership with NHSE and stakeholders across the wider alliance, NHS Trusts and Integrated Care Systems, the post holder will have responsibility for the development and implementation of initiatives to meet the needs of people living with cancer. Supporting individuals and reaching those communities to ensure they have the right level of information to support them with early diagnosis and their treatment plans. The post holder will also be responsible for implementing initiatives and managing programmes of work to support reducing health inequalities., Work in partnership with both internal and external stakeholders to deliver on the 8 objectives of the health inequalities plan.

Work with system leaders and clinical teams to ensure that health inequalities are considered and planned for when developing strategic cancer initiatives.

Co-develop a plan that articulates how the objectives will be shared, implemented and monitored.

Implement and monitor Equality Impact Assessments for the Alliance's programs and project

With patient advocates and community group leaders Gather and share case studies of where cancer health inequalities programs of work have made a difference

Build a regional network and chair meetings to be able to show case and share.

Co-chair the Health Inequalities Committee

Produce reports of progress at required intervals to be shared with the Cancer Alliance Executive Board and any other relevant forums

The West Midlands Cancer Alliance (WMCA) is one of twenty-one Cancer Alliances across England, one of the largest Alliances in the country. WMCA covers a large geographical area of 6 counties: Birmingham and Solihull, Coventry and Warwickshire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire, Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, The Black Country and Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent. The West Midlands Cancer Alliance team is hosted at Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust working across the wider West Midlands footprint. This role requires regular travel across the Midlands and the team meet face to face in Central Birmingham once a fortnight.

Cancer Alliances were set-up to deliver the collective ambitions identified by the National Cancer Taskforce, with the aim of increasing survival rates across the area and the experience of those living with and beyond cancer, ensuring that we address inequalities and improve patient experience wherever possible. We do this by bringing together all the organisations which commission, provide, and contribute to cancer services across our area to enable quality improvement.
