Full Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to undertake the role of Intelligence Researcher within the Professional Standards Department, Counter Corruption team. This is a challenging role that requires the successful candidate to:
- Prepare and supply statistical information obtained from various sources in support of the Counter Corruption strategy which can be used to direct and focus further development.
- Carry out research of crime and complaints & conduct matters using all available sources of information to provide an accurate picture of current themes and trends.
- Liaises with Counter Corruption colleagues in other forces and internal/external agencies to identify prevention and intelligence opportunities as well as best practice.
- Identify intervention and prevention opportunities in respect of any of the National Counter Corruption Control categories.
- Work with other forces and cross-geographical agencies (such as NCA, UK Borders agency, Customs & Excise etc) to ensure all law enforcement systems are being researched and updated appropriately.
- Carry out research concerning risk and threats posed from corrupt activity.
- Being an active member of the Counter Corruption Unit provide assistance to other members of the team and PSD Department under the direction of the Detective Sergeant.
- Support the work of the intelligence analysis to assist with any tasking or operation.
- Carry out statistical measurement and performance research to support the management and performance function within the unit.
- Attend meetings, seminars, representing the counter corruption unit as required, reporting back on matters discussed. This opportunity would suit a highly motivated and dynamic individual who can bring their skills and experience to the role, collating and analysing information relevant to the Prevent and Protect Control Strategy., Where appropriate we will make adjustments to the selection process, working arrangements and/or the working environment provided it is reasonable in all the circumstances to do so. - Commonwealth citizens or foreign nationals (who are not British citizens or European Economic Area (EEA) state members) who have leave to enter or remain in the United Kingdom for an indefinite period that is free from restrictions. All applicants (except those who have been serving abroad with the British Armed Forces) must have lived in the UK continuously for the past three years.
- Ability to identify reliable and appropriate sources of information and select methods of gathering information which are efficient and effective.
- Capability to use IT system to their full potential, to create and amend records, as necessary, and to retrieve information from complex data searches. Understands the significance of the search results and can provide guidance on the reliability of any further data analysis.
- Manage and prioritise workload cognisant of any associate risks identified.
- Ability to offer changing ideas, perceptions, and ways of working, making new and innovative suggestions to help improve existing working methods and practices.
- Able to take in information quickly and accurately identifying material as to its relevance and importance in order to solve problems.

Essex Police offer incremental increases within this salary band, therefore the salary for this position will rise to a maximum of £29,874.00.
