Full Job Description

Your role will involve assisting me with all aspects of personal care including washing/ showering and toileting. Ensuring my NIV (non-invasive ventilator) is on and working efficiently throughout the day when required. Efficient record keeping.

Promote independence and provide encouragement with going out and enabling me to socialise when I can do so.

The successful candidate will be employed by my mother as my Personal Health Budget Holder and must also be happy to work under my instruction. They will be part of a team so there will be opportunity to cover holiday and sickness.

Job share/ multiple staff can be considered.

About me

I'm a bright, cheerful young man in my early 20s. I love going out, photography, creating artwork and gaming on my x-box. I enjoy supporting Norwich City Football club. As I'm a full-time electric wheelchair user with a complex medical condition I require full support and assistance to access the activities I enjoy.

I am non-weightbearing and unable to move or reposition myself, I am looking for someone to help with all aspects of my daily life and personal care routines whilst helping me to maintain independence. Then utilising other time to undertake necessary domestic tasks.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Full assistance with cutting up of food, feeding/ drinking and monitoring daily food and fluid intake.
Full Personal care, toileting, washing, showering and getting me ready for bed.
Repositioning me in my wheelchair or bed using the Vendlet turning system when required.
Skin awareness and monitoring to help prevent skin breakdown.
Moving and Handling using ceiling track hoists and slings.
Dispense and administer medications as directed along with pain management.
Regular admin and updating my care plan as required.
Assistance with using my non-invasive ventilator, previous experience desired but not essential.
Assistance with breathing exercises, physio stretching and pain management.
Domestic tasks when required.

Fun, outgoing and sociable.
Good listener and good communication skills.
Respectful of my wishes and happy to be instructed by me.
Confident and dependable.
Able to use a hoist.
Full clean UK driving licence to enable you to drive my wheelchair accessible van.

Hours, days and times of work: Minimum 36 hours per week, up to 12-hour days, including some weekends. Needs to be available for 7/8AM start with up to 7/8PM finish. Job share / multiple staff can be considered.

Pay rate: £13.50 per hour
Annual leave: The annual holiday entitlement for this position will be equivalent to the work normally done during 5.6 weeks (statutory entitlement).
Expenses: You will be reimbursed for prior agreed expenses incurred as part of the role.
Sick pay: I do not operate a private sick pay scheme but provided you meet the eligibility criteria, you may be entitled to Statutory Sick Pay (SSP).
Pension: I do not operate a private pension scheme but I will fulfil my statutory obligations via the NEST pension scheme.
Full mandatory training will be given to the successful candidate.
