Full Job Description

As the Relationship Manager for the SEND and Inclusion Team, you will report directly to our inspirational Director for SEND and Inclusion. You will be responsible for delivering, enhancing, leading and monitoring the processes that support excellent service delivery of the Directorate teams in Birmingham. You will be a key part of the Director's leadership team, representing the department/council with internal and external stakeholders. This is a high profile, challenging position. You will be responsible for ensuring the required support from central council teams is in place so that the directorate can plan and manage resources effectively. You will be accountable for the below and have a genuine chance to use your talents to evolve the role and cultivate with the Director how things can be delivered across the SEND and Inclusion Directorate.

  • clear financial reporting to and from the directorate;
  • managing HR matters (including recruitment);
  • arrangements with the legal department;
  • supporting communications from the directorate; links with procurement/commissioning;
  • working effectively with the data team(s) across Birmingham;
  • managing the governance arrangements and ensuring the Director is kept up to date on any challenges and risks;
  • ensuring the Director is supported and challenged to maintain improvements for the work the department is responsible for.
  • You will be responsible for a diverse team of five FTE with four different roles that support our delivery teams. You will directly line manage three FTE and be responsible for ensuring that the Director and service leaders have the support required so they can improve outcomes for children and young people. You will be an exceptional communicator, with meticulous attention to detail, and a relentless focus on supporting service improvement and quality. As a highly organised leader, you will be used to working to deadlines and be adept at managing a number of different priorities simultaneously. You will thrive in a role that requires you to work effectively with multiple stakeholders offering different services and in supporting strategic and operational leaders.
