Full Job Description
As Route Logistics Manager youll lead a dynamic team in delivering seamless, end-to-end Supply Chain Operations (SCO) services across a defined route and area, ensuring every project is executed safely, sustainably, and efficiently. Youll drive exceptional customer experiences by fostering strong, lasting relationships with both clients and local suppliers. This role offers the opportunity to empower a team to excel in strategic and tactical route-based delivery, whist also contributing to the broader goals of the business. We have two positions available:
- Route Logistics Manager [Anglia and East Midlands] - this role can be based at London Stratford, Milton Keynes or Derby, with regular travel between the three locations, as well as our depots at Whitemoor and Toton.
- Route Logistics Manager [Wessex] this role is based at London Puddle Dock. Key accountabilities include: 1. Lead the development of a strong safety culture within the SCO route teams and with suppliers. 2. Manage the end-to-end process of development, delivery and assurance for SCO products and services against the relevant Service Contract to drive an improving customer perception trend. 3. Lead the process to manage annual demand and longer term business and resource planning for SCO supplied services to drive improved supply/demand forecasting. 4. Build and nurture customer relationships for which the team is responsible and act as the voice of the route customer within key Route Services forums. 5. Work collaboratively with customers to develop and implement innovative strategies which meet business requirements, maximising benefits and efficiency opportunities and minimising risk. 6. Collaborate with other Route Service functions and service lines to improve the customer experience. 7. Lead on the strategic development of all route Local Distribution Centres/Major Logistics Facilities in order to deliver continuous improvement and enhancements in the depots to meet quality, safety and efficiency improvement requirements. 8. Manage the local supplier relationships for SCO products and services to deliver business benefit and performance optimisation from both supplier and Network Rail perspectives. 9. · Ability to implement and maintain a safety culture using robust safety leadership skills. · Strong strategic focus with the ability to formulate and drive the delivery of strategic objectives. · Proven track record of outstanding team leadership. · Detailed knowledge of the Planning Standard. · Highly skilled senior relationship manager experienced in managing end -to-end client, customer and supplier relationships. · Advanced influencing and negotiation skills with ability to influence decision making and develop mutually beneficial relationships. · Advanced knowledge of depot and facility management. · Lead on continuous improvement skills i.e. LEAN/Six Sigma. · Network Rail level 2 investigator competence competent or working towards Designated Competent Person. · Detailed knowledge of rail plant, wagons, seasonal fleet and on-track machine management and operation. Desirable · Member of a relevant professional institution. · Knowledge of railway operations, including safety rules and regulations. · Knowledge of rail plant and on-track machine management, maintenance and operation. · National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) general certificate or above.

Hours: 35 hours per week. Flexible, part-time working and job shares can be considered. Salary range: £71,163 - £80,060 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
