Full Job Description

The South East Data & Analytics team is an analytical service supporting NHS England South East Region., The five main duties/responsibilities of the role are:
1. Providing analytical insights - Lead and deliver a high-quality analytics service using extensive knowledge of NHS data and excellent technical skills in statistics, data management, business intelligence, analytics (particularly demand and capacity modelling) and data visualisation.
2. Problem definition and problem solving - Structure problems and develop appropriate analytical solutions, challenging assumptions, analysing and triangulating data in innovative ways, and adapting approaches to deal with ambiguity and unstructured and/or missing data .
3. Project management - Have excellent project management skills, including the ability to plan, manage and deliver a portfolio of projects, juggle competing priorities and tight deadlines for self and team.
4. Line management and people development - Develop, motivate, and manage staff, providing appropriate leadership, support, and managing day to day work assigned.
5. Stakeholder relationships - Build and manage collaborative relationships across the health system.

The team works across all Directorates within the region, with individual responsibilities flexing according to regional priorities. The initial focus for this role is to lead the analytical team supporting Planned Care and Operational Planning, including analytical work on elective recovery, cancer, diagnostics, theatre utilisation, and outpatients. Experience of working on these topics would be very useful, and a commitment to learning and becoming a subject matter expert would be essential if less experienced. This focus may change over time to respond to the requirements of the region.
Example projects include leading an analytical team in monitoring performance of systems; forecasting based on data models; prescriptive analytics based on triangulation across analytical tools; and data-driven storytelling to support the improvement and delivery of health services.
Senior Analytical Leads oversee and work with team members to deliver analytical requirements and work closely with key stakeholders, influencing delivery. You will have significant experience of working with stakeholders and enabling others through analytics. You will also have proven skills in people and project management.

The NHS England board have set out the top-level purpose for the new organisation to lead the NHS in England to deliver high-quality services for all, which will inform the detailed design work and we will achieve this purpose by:
+ Enabling local systems and providers to improve the health of their people and patients and reduce health inequalities.
+ Making the NHS a great place to work, where our people can make a difference and achieve their potential.
+ Working collaboratively to ensure our healthcare workforce has the right knowledge, skills, values and behaviours to deliver accessible, compassionate care
+ Optimising the use of digital technology, research, and innovation
+ Delivering value for money.
