Ofqual is the independent qualifications regulator for England. We currently regulate 200+ awarding organisations, and approx. 11,600 certified qualifications. These include GCSEs, AS and A levels, and a broad range of vocational and technical qualifications. Based on the 2022 annual people survey Ofqual are ranked 9th out of 104 participating departments., We are looking to recruit a Senior Manager (Standards and Technical Issues) to work within our Standards & Comparability team. This role will contribute to Ofquals statutory objectives to secure qualification standards in a range of qualifications, and will play an important role in our monitoring of qualification standards.
What the post holder will be doing
+ Support the development of approaches to monitor standard setting and maintenance in key qualifications.
+ Contribute to Ofquals technical work to evaluate and report on standards and comparability issues in qualifications and assessments.
+ Develop, refine and apply appropriate technical methodologies for standards maintenance, investigations and recalibration.
+ Provide input into strategies to review and improve comparability over time, including the development of novel techniques where necessary.
+ Contribute to Ofquals interactions with exam board and awarding organisation technical teams, including via regular meetings convened by Ofqual.
+ With others, build the profile of Ofqual so that it becomes a lead voice on standards and comparability in all qualifications and assessments., This vacancy is using Success Profiles (opens in a new window), and will assess your Behaviours, Experience and Technical skills.

We often have similar roles available at different grades. If a candidate is suitable for a similar role or at a lower grade than they applied for, we may extend an offer without the need to go through a further selection process, providing the role has comparable behaviours and essential criteria.
Ofqual works flexibly, with a hybrid office/home based working model. Employees will spend at least two to three days a week working from our office in Coventry. As Coventry will be your base location expenses for travel to the office will not be paid.

A reserve list may be held for up to 6 months, which the Civil Service may use to fill future suitably similar vacancies across government for candidates who are considered appointable following interview.
