Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for individuals to undertake the role of Telephonist within the Contact Centre for Essex Police. In this role you will often be the first point of contact the public have with Essex Police and as such you will have excellent communication and personal skills. You will work closely with the Contact Centre and other internal departments and respond and re-route urgent or emergency calls to Contact Centre Officers as well as deal with general enquiries. You will assist Essex Police with special Police campaigns/operations, by setting up and handling calls in response to a particular event/incident. You will liaise directly with other departments and officers and will be required to research Essex Police Systems and generate emails and tasks and therefore you will have sound IT skills.

  • A real belief in public service, focusing on what matters to the public and will best serve their needs.
  • Manage their own and other's emotions when dealing with conflict.

    As this is a shift working role, coving 0600-0000, 7 days per week, the role also attracts shift allowance of 20% on top of the basic salary and additional enhancements for hours worked at weekends. Essex Police offer incremental increases within this salary band, therefore the salary for this position will rise to a maximum of £22,671.00., Where appropriate we will make adjustments to the selection process, working arrangements and/or the working environment provided it is reasonable in all the circumstances to do so.
