Full Job Description

Working alongside partners in Leicestershire Police, the Violence Reduction Network and with our voluntary and community sector partners, you'll develop and facilitate Youth Joint Actions Groups. You'll attend main open and closed Joint Action Groups, providing updates and progress reports to the community safety partnership. You'll help plan and deliver programmes of child/youth/parent participation work which supports the personal and social development of participants as well as improves participation and consultation. You'll undertake face to face work with children, young people, and parents, advocacy, and children's rights as well as training on the Lundy Model of Participation to the workforce.

With excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you'll be able to empathise and build a strong, trusting relationship with children, young people, and families. You'll confidently be able to maintain professional working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Experienced in planning, delivering, and evaluating sessions/activities with young people, you'll be able to implement creative ways of engaging hard to reach groups. With knowledge of crime, anti-social behaviour, and community safety, you'll be able to handle sensitive and confidential issues with care, compassion, and tact. Self-motivated and a good team player, you'll be able to create a positive working environment.

Youth Joint Action Groups act as forums where young people come together to discuss their views, experiences and ideas on community safety, crime, and anti-social behaviour within their communities. We aim to ensure children, young people and families have a voice, the right audience and ultimately influence over decisions that are made about them, their lives, and the city they live in. A key role within the Rights and Participation Service, you'll lead on developing and co-ordinating four Youth Joint Action Groups across all of Leicester's neighbourhood policing areas. This is a part-time, fixed term post for 12 months, working 18 hours per week. There is an expectation that you'll work some evenings and occasional weekends.
