Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has become available for a full-time post to work in our Emergency Department at Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Working hours will vary between 7am -- 10pm with occasional flexibility required to meet service needs. The post holder will be a key member of the Operational Team, supporting the senior management team with various operational duties.,

  • Operational Performance: Monitor daily operational performance, including ambulance delays, 4-hour A&E performance, and departmental flow. You will use your knowledge and experience to judgement to address delays and escalate concerns as necessary.
  • Support Quality Improvement: Collaborate on enhancing departmental processes and workflows, participate in quality improvement projects, and implement best practices.
  • Medical Rostering: Provide comprehensive administrative support for Medical rostering, resolve day-to-day issues independently, and ensure compliance with departmental, Trust, and National standards. Act as the first point of contact for A&E Medical Rota enquiries and ensure accurate records linking to rostering rules and training requirements for medical trainees.
  • Main duties of the job
  • Information Management: Appropriately manage confidential, complex, and sensitive information about staff, exercising discretion and upholding professional standards.
  • Departmental Support: Develop a thorough understanding of the A&E department, assist with the development and implementation of efficient systems, and respond promptly to departmental issues and unforeseen challenges to ensure the smooth operation of the service.
  • Communication and Relationship Skills
  • Provide and receive complex information daily.
  • Be the first point of contact for enquiries for A&E Medical rostering and exercise initiative and judgement when dealing with enquiries which may be of an emotional or stressful nature.
  • Receive and deal with telephone enquiries as appropriate.
