Balfour Beatty are looking for a Quality Manager to join our Regional Buildings Team in Aldermaston, Berkshire. The Quality Manager will provide functional leadership to Project quality resources and be the quality expert practitioner to provide specialist support and a network of quality skills to support project delivery.What you'll be doing To ensure the Project plans for delivering Products and Services right first time that meet requirements every time and drive the "Defect Free Delivery" and reduce the "Cost of Quality" through:

  • Providing leadership to project quality resources to deliver the project and BBUK quality strategies.
  • Ensuring that Quality Plans and associated processes are in place to deliver right first time to client specification.
  • Providing training and support as required to ensure this is delivered
  • Ensuring the quality processes meet or exceed the requirements of the BMS and that any amendments are clearly stated in Project Quality Plans.
  • Ensuring appropriate inspection and test plans (ITPs) are in place
  • Ensuring systems are in place that allows the required specification to be clearly agreed and delivered with customers, customers' technical representatives, project, sub-contractor supply chain.
  • Ensuring systems are in place to allow sample and benchmark plans to be established and agreed with customer, and sub-contractor supply chain.
  • Undertaking assurance that Quality Plans are being followed and those requirements are being met.
  • Ensuring Project KPIs and metrics are in place that drive continuous improvement
  • Supporting the delivery of Project and Business Stream quality programs and actions.
  • Coaching & develop quality skills on the project
  • Supporting establishment of continuous improvement culture
  • Undertaking specific investigations and/or report on quality related issues as required.

  • Ensuring a relentless focus on Zero Harm and Defect Free Delivery (DFD)
  • Supporting the delivery of the Sustainability Blueprint

    The ability to provide leadership.
  • Build strong relationships with delivery teams and project managers.
  • Substantial practical experience in quality management in construction or manufacturing.
  • The ability to coach and develop staff in key quality management skills and build a quality management framework & KPI measurement.
  • Demonstrated root cause analysis and problem resolution capability.
  • A formal qualification in Quality Management e.g. Diploma in Quality Management (UK Chartered Quality Institute, British Standards Institute or equivalent)
  • Preferably trained ISO 9001 Lead Auditor and/or Internal Auditor
  • Either a CQI Member or working towards membership
  • Working knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma.
  • Has an ability to gather, analyse and evaluate facts.
  • Pays attention to detail and sees things through to completion.
  • Can deliver reports orally and written in an objective and persuasive manner
  • Has good interpersonal and communication skills and acts in an independent and professional manner with the ability to influence others including senior management.
  • Is a self-starter who manages their own time and seeks to add value to their function.
  • Has an enquiring and questioning approach to audit work.
  • Can work within a multi-discipline team.
  • Able to command respect across the project
  • Is good at building relationships and can influence effectively.
  • Can demonstrate initiative and resilience.
  • Knowledge of the construction industry or experience within a project-based organisation.
  • The following qualities/experience are desirable:
  • Previous experience of managing a team will be an advantage.
