Full Job Description

This post will contribute to tackling inequalities in health through promoting and supporting pregnant clients to stop smoking. The post holder will provide relationship based support and tobacco treatment advice to individuals throughout their maternity care journey. The overall aim is to reduce harm caused by smoking for babies and families., The main duties of this role is to build supportive and non-judgmental relationships that facilitate open and honest discussions that lead to a quit attempt. The main duties are to provide behavior change support and Nicotine Replacement therapy to those who continue to smoke during pregnancy. To educate women, birthing people, families and health professionals about the risk of smoking in pregnancy. To ensure the service continues to improve and meet the needs of our community the successful candidate will support with data collection and analysis.

    Work autonomously to deliver tobacco harm reduction (smoking cessation) assessments, behavior change support and issue Nicotine Replacement Therapy following a clinical assessment of need. The post holder will [where appropriate] provide advice on alternative devices to support a quit attempt such as e-cigarettes. Hold sensitive discussions with woman and families about the harmful effects of smoking Work in a variety of settings, including in the clients home Provide maternity specific training [to the maternity multi-professional team] on the effects of smoking in pregnancy, smoke free home and interventions to encourage and support a quit attempt To contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of the service, including the completion of the minimum data set requirement.
