Full Job Description

The Advocate will ideally be based in Banbury however applicants from all hospital sites are encouraged. In conjunction with the SAS Advocate already in post the successful applicant will provide SAS advocacy for all SAS grades, across all sites, within the Trust.,

  • enable SAS doctors/dentists to share their experiences
  • improve the visibility of SAS doctors/dentists across the organisation
  • develop local strategies to improve the wellbeing of SAS doctors/dentists
  • and improve working lives.

  • Full registration with the GMC and a licence to practice, Employed as a current SAS doctor or dentist, Coaching and values led leadership style, encouraging engagement and empowerment amongst staff and stakeholders, A high level of communication skills, to include, mediation, negotiation, consultation, facilitation, presentation, training and coaching skills using well developed interpersonal skills to influence, inform, reconcile differences and resolve conflicts
  • Ability to negotiate with key stakeholders on health and wellbeing issues
  • Good spoken and written English
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, Understanding of policies related to NHS and SAS doctors in particular, Experience of policy development, Ability to analyse complex data and information, including preparing responses to complex reports and complaints, weighing clinical risks, and forming judgements often within tight timescales
  • IT literate and able to use standard office software and bespoke systems, Ability to Solve complex problems, and be solution-focused demonstrating a high level of persuasive and influencing skills, Able to cope with competing priorities and a heavy, demanding, and complex workload, Understanding and appreciation of diversity
  • Understanding of key issues, complexity and pace of change facing the NHS nationally and locally
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of governance arrangements and standards in the NHS
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of GMC guidelines and advice
  • Understanding of the SAS Contract and SAS Charter, The post holder must have credibility in the role and have the ability to command the respect, and confidence of other clinicians.
  • Be able to work in a complex environment, You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
