Full Job Description

As the church continues to grow and we launch new services and ministries, we are looking for a second worship pastor to play their part in leading worship and facilitating production across our four locations. The role will also invest in raising up, training and pastoring teams to lead worship and run production, to encourage and facilitate worship across the church.,

  • Recruit, lead and pastor individuals and teams in leading our sung worship
  • Planning services in partnership with the service pastors.
  • Lead by example in worship and modelling best practice across all our sites.
  • Take your share of leading worship at prayer meetings and staff meetings
  • Training others to play and lead and investing in future worship leaders
  • Seek to identify new resources and songs for the church
  • Developing ways to engage the community, particularly those seeking faith, by using music and our buildings and building relationships with partner organisations. This might include, but not be limited to, community choirs, song writing sessions, and public performances in the church.
  • Work with the Rector and Rising Generations team to lead worship in fresh expressions of church and in our local schools
  • Take your share of ensuring production (audio and visuals) is smoothly delivered at a variety of events and services

    Demonstrate desire to be a lead worshipper: a worshipping heart
  • Experience in leading worship at all levels, including congregational level
  • Skilled musician and singer with knowledge and experience in the area of contemporary worship
  • Ability to train, counsel and advise people on a one to one level, both those with less experience and those with more than you
  • Experience of working with young people and families and desire to create spaces for them to engage with worship
  • Desire to serve the leadership of the church
  • Advanced production technology and IT skills
  • Self-motivated
  • Flexible attitude
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Desirable
  • Practical experience in pastoral ministry
  • Academic qualifications relevant to role (e.g. Music and theology)
  • Experience in administration
  • Budget management
  • Experience in leading across a variety of styles and contexts
  • Wide ranging musical knowledge with appreciation for, and knowledge of, traditional and classical worship music, while not necessarily being the primary musician in this area.
  • Experience of church planting or revitalisation projects
  • Good organisational skills

    Full time, Sunday - Thursday 37.5 hours per week
  • 25 days holiday per annum plus bank holidays
  • 6 month probationary period
  • While the role is Sunday to Thursday, the role holder will need to be available to work key dates such as weekends away or civic services
  • The role holder must be available to work at a selection of key events which could include Christmas services, Easter services and Annual Parochial Church meetings when required
  • Attend Tuesday morning staff meeting
  • It is expected that staff members will be active members of Basingstoke Parish including Sunday services
